About My Green Stuff

Hi I’m Tea, and I own and operate My Green Stuff, both online, and from our cute little store in Sherwood, Brisbane.

My Green Stuff originally started as “Name Your Dummy” after my mum sent over a personalised dummy from my homeland of Denmark when my first child was born. I thought it was such a good idea as little ones really don’t keep a good eye on their things! And it also helped the childcare centre keep track of them too.

Over time we expanded to include a whole range of ‘stuff’ that we were able to personalise for our customers such as drink bottles, lunch boxes, snack boxes and swimming goggles. Eventually we rebranded to “Name My Stuff” to cover all these extra items that we were now selling as well as the dummies.

We were also the first company in Australia to use the latest technology and equipment (at the time) to permanently mark and personalise items using a method that complied with Australian safety standards, which is something we are proud to have taken a lead on.

The main aim in personalising products (besides being able to find them!) is to encourage sustainable use. We name products because we want to re-use them again and again, thus saving on landfill and reducing our environmental footprint.

From there, we kept expanding our range to include other products that weren’t necessarily personalised such as cleaning products, and beauty products. All of a sudden, we were more than just a business that sold personalised products so we had another rebrand and “My Green Stuff” was born.

Across all these changes however our ethos has been the same. Provide families with cost-effective products to help them actively reduce consumption and waste, through sustainable and eco-friendly products. Today, many of our products are made from 100% recycled materials or are recyclable at the end of life (or both), are durable and long-lasting, or made from materials that didn’t exist even a few years ago, such as products made from recycled plastic bottles or 100% plant-based materials. Many are also BPA-free, or safe for use on sensitive skin (such as the mozzie repellant from our amazing Australian-based supplier).

Our range now covers everything a family could need to get through busy days in a sustainable manner. From reusable takeaway coffee cups to beeswax food wraps, soap made right here in Queensland from goat’s milk, fantastically durable reusable cleaning cloths from my Danish homeland, or yoga mats made from recycled rubber, we’ve got sustainable alternatives to single use products, helping you reduce your waste.

According to a 2022 report, Australia produces a whopping 76 million tonnes of waste each year, which is around 2.95 tonnes per person. While much of that is industrial or commercial waste, a significant proportion is waste from everyday living from you and me.

On the other side, recycling efforts are not keeping up with our waste volumes, which means our landfill piles are getting bigger and bigger. With climate change, and a growing worldwide population I’m sure you don’t need us to tell you that it isn’t sustainable.

It may seem that something as small as carrying a reusable drink bottle with you instead of using a single use one makes no difference, but it really does, and that’s why we’re here – to help you help the planet for our children and grandchildren.

My kids are teenagers now, and the days of having to keep track of a dummy are way behind us. But from that small gift from my mum all those years ago, we’ve grown and grown to stock hundreds of products for you, our valued customers and friends.

We’ll continue to do all we can to source and stock the very best products to minimise our environmental footprint, and we thank you for your continued support.

Kindest regards, Tea.
